Are You Searching for Answers?

Last night, I sat with a small group of women who show up each week to Bible study wanting to know Jesus more. Some are new believers and others are not so new at this. Yet still we all have so much in common – the same questions, the same struggles, the same desires.

The conversation shifted to reveal the frustration that comes from our search for the answers. We want to hear from God, we want to know why, and we need help solving the issues we are walking through. I made a statement that resonated deep within some of the women.

“We aren’t to run to Jesus for the answers, we are to come to Him who is The Answer.”

Insert mind blown emoji. Are you doing the same thing? Are you seeking answers and frustrated because you aren’t getting them? Are you searching for answers so you can figure out your situation? Are you searching for the answers so you can be happy? Are you searching for the answers as to why you must walk a difficult path? Jesus is your Answer.

I know it sounds cliché. But, we have it all wrong. We think we need so many things, but what we desperately need is Jesus. He is waiting for you to seek Him with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. He is exactly what you are searching for.

I don’t want to simply drop that statement and then leave you with more answers than you had before. So… let’s dive in and see what does it mean that Jesus is the Answer? He is the Answer to what?

Jesus is the answer to our reconciliation to God. This one we understand. We accept that God sent His son to pay the penalty for our sin. As believers, we have recognized that we are sinners in need of a Savior. Jesus became our sacrificial lamb. His blood has washed us clean so that we can have a relationship with God.

Jesus is the answer to our desire to fully fellowship with God. Although we are saved, we still sin today and that sin can create a distance between us and God. It is like taking a step in the wrong direction. First John 1:9 tells us that if we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us. Jesus said in John 13:10, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, ….” When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are fully bathed – washed clean. But we have those daily impurities that need to be dealt with if we want to fully fellowship with God. It is Jesus who washes our feet. (Insert heart emoji.)

Jesus is our answer to our heartbreak, our struggles, and our fears. He left His throne, came to this fallen world, and lived as a man. He experienced loss, rejection, betrayal, and all the things that we experience – therefore, He can sympathize with us. In John 16:33 He tells us, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” You see, this is not our home. This not our forever. Our pain will end. We have the hope of eternity with Jesus – where everything will be as it should be. In the meantime, here is what we are to remember –

We need His mercy and grace. “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-16)

He cares and will carry us through. “Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7

This is temporary. “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelations 21:4

I could go on and on – but I am praying this is helping you recognize that we don’t need the answers to our problems, we need The Answer. Jesus is everything we have ever wanted and He is everything we need. So when…

You are sad – seek Jesus.

You are mad – seek Jesus.

You are hurting – seek Jesus.

You are lost – seek Jesus.

You are left out, overlooked, dismissed – seek Jesus.

You are lonely – seek Jesus.

You are anxious – seek Jesus.

Life is unfair – seek Jesus.

He is your Answer!
