Arise, Shine!

Arise, Shine!

Ugh! Here we go…

So, you may know that I am a Life and Leadership coach and that I also have a podcast with my friends called, Engage for More. Well… we pre-recorded our podcast episodes for February, and they were all about obedience. The episode titles are Do I have Enough Faith?, Walking in Disobedience, What Does It Mean to Trust and Obey?, and What Lies on the Other Side of Obedience?.  Recently, my coaching sessions seem to mostly be going in the same direction. I have been working with clients and encouraging them to trust God enough to obey and offer forgiveness, to trust Him enough to obey and relinquish control to Him, and to trust Him enough to obey and step into their calling.

As I prepared, as I recorded, and as I reflected, God was tapping me on the shoulder. As I worked with my clients and gave them examples of what it means to trust and obey, He was whispering in my ear. And as I shared with one that saying I am trying or working on it is in fact choosing disobedience, He started shining a light on my disobedience. Yikes!

What about you? Would you say you are walking in obedience to Him or walking in disobedience?

Honestly, I obey God’s word in a lot of areas of my life. I lean in and listen for His promptings. But the painful truth is there is one area where I have not been obedient. Instead I have been procrastinating, I have been making excuses, and I have been searching for answers to my questions instead of simply doing what God has told me to do. All of that adds up to simple disobedience.

Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. Isaiah 60:1

You see, I firmly believe that the best place to be is right in the center of God’s will. So the best yes I can ever offer is to say yes to Him. Yes, Lord, whatever it is you want me to do, I say yes to You. The struggle is that the adversary then determines that He will put a stop to our Yes and start to delay, distract, and derail us. And we very easily fall prey to his schemes.

So, this is me confessing my disobedience and encouraging you to do the same.

This is also me declaring that His way is best and therefore, I will choose to trust Him and obey Him even when I can’t see on the other side of it. Will you do the same?

And this is me letting you know I am going to do what He has asked me to do. It is not about me and my insecurities. It is not about me and my pride. It is not about me and my fear. It is about choosing to walk in obedience to Him and simply saying Yes. And it is not about you and your insecurities, pride, or fear.

Let’s arise! Let’s shine! Because it is what He has told us to do. For our light has come. And the glory of the Lord is risen upon us. May our obedience shine His light into the darkness.

And all God’s girls said, AMEN!

I am praying for you! Will you pray for me. Stay tuned as I step out in obedience…
